I grew up in rural Western Iowa in a 1900 two-story farmhouse built on a hill overlooking farmland as far as the eye could see. Clean air and open skies, nothing too fancy, a simple life filtered with rich childhood memories. The older I get, the more I cherish life in the hills of Western Iowa. The thrill of dusty combines in the fall, opening morning pheasant hunts, visiting my grandparent’s dairy farm in Plymouth County, and fall deer hunting were the highs of my memories. Fast forward to the present time, my early life experience in rural Iowa has positioned me to understand Iowa farmland, the process of producers, and how farms trade hands in Iowa. People often ask me where I am from, simply reply “ Iowa – the heart of America.”  

Luke has provided a key role in the growth of Iowa Land Company. As Co-founder and shareholder in the firm, he takes pride in providing new ideas and innovative marketing strategies in the land business. As the lead auctioneer and auction director, he takes it personally to provide and pursue the best approach to selling farmland on auction. When farmland owners and heirs decide to sell Iowa farmland, it is our mission to provide cutting-edge marketing and a smooth and successful transition during the sales process. Our approach is to contribute the same input into the process as if it was our farm to sell. We believe it is our responsibility to provide an honest and higher standard of service in the land business. Our marketing process generates more demand for your farm through multiple local marketing outlets along with our national digital marketing streams. Over the years, Luke has assisted in over 17,000 acres of new land ownership throughout Iowa. Farmland tracts Luke has sold, range from 480 acres located in Sioux County, large pasture acres in the Loess Hills of Plymouth County, and smaller compact 80s in the rich hill country of Carroll County.  

In 2016, I enrolled in auctioneering school in Mason City taught by the great Paul C. Behr. A two-week long, rigorous course learning about auction chants, auction business, and being a better auctioneer. Since 2016, I have assisted and helped transfer over $100,000,000 in Iowa farmland. Within those transactions, I have worked with many sellers throughout Western, Southern, and Northern Iowa. I pride my work on providing an honest service that puts sellers first and represents them as if it was my family selling farmland. There are numerous details that go into the auction process. It is my goal to make the process of selling farmland seamless and rewarding.

My mother passed away in 2021 and left my siblings and I a farm in Monona County, Iowa. I was appointed executor, and after talking with a couple land brokers and visiting their websites, I wasn’t convinced we had the right people to handle the sale.
