Iowa Land Company offered a farm for the Ulrich family on March 10th near Ringsted, Iowa. This region is known for some great farmland. Farmers are competitive and want to add more acres onto their operations. In the Kossuth County, Iowa region farmland values are stable. Big farmers have expanded and created competitive environments when farmland comes up for sale on auction.

On Tuesday, we saw active bidding by mostly local interest with some investors looking to pay premium for the farmland. On the final hammer drop, fair market value was determined at $8,800 per acre for the Kossuth County, IA 71.51 acre tract. The north 69.8 tract brought $6,500 per acre. A investor from Arizona purchased tract #2 at $8,800 per acre. A local young farmer purchased tract #1 at $6,500 per acre.

What to look ahead at in the markets – Farmland values have held stable in Kossuth County, Iowa. Some recent years due to pressures in commodities it has seen to be trending lower, but good productive farmland is selling very well.
