Doug Knott
Doug grew up on his grandfathers and uncle’s large diary farm where he learned to love the land, love livestock and love wildlife. He excelled at dairy, owning several of his own cattle even while in his teens. He won many awards in his local FFA chapter, including star chapter farmer. Upon marrying his lovely wife Katy they spent many years in far away places, even 5 years in South America doing missionary work.
Doug built a successful commercial building maintenance business in his wife’s hometown of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, while there they also dealt with real estate, building or upgrading several acerages. It was then that his two sons were born Garrett and Tyler.
Since 2008, Doug has been owner of Ottumwa Mow and Snow in Southeast Iowa, which has progressively grown since it’s inception. His family takes great pride in thier work and has a long list of satisfied customers who can attest to the Knott families work ethic and putting the customers first mentality. They also derive much joy from supporting the work of thier congregations in the Ottumwa and Albia areas.
Doug is a avid whitetail hunter and weather spotter. He owns his own farm near Blakesburg. His family hunts on several farms throughout southeastern Iowa. He has a detailed knowledge of the deer herd and habitat they occupy. Doug and his son Tyler have been able to harvest many mature whitetails together, with Tyler taking the number 2 buck in Iowa in 2016 a 233″ named Junkyard. He is the largest whitetail ever taken with bow by a youth under 16 years of age! Doug has found great satisfaction in seeing others succeed in the realm of deer hunting. For Doug his life in Iowa is a dream, to live and work in a part of God’s earth where folks love the land and sharing such things with others each day is a priviledge.
I have been very impressed with Doug Knott since first meeting him. He has always been honest and you can believe what he tells you. He operates his own business in an efficient manner and has steadily increased his customer base indicating his customer’s satisfaction.
He grew up on a farm and worked there even after high school, where he got that hard work ethic typical of farm kids.
He has hunted my farms for several years and has been respectful and appreciative of my land. He respects the property owner and would do a good job representing him. He can appreciate the benefits of a piece of land.
